Did we mention we’re working on a tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG)?

Stoker & Wells: Authors of Fate, the latest Cinevore project in development, made its public (playtesting) debut at SDCC as well. Saturday afternoon from 3pm-6pm, our diligent and striking designers/GMs ran two concurrent games in the main game hall at the Marriot.

Created and designed by Jenni PowellReuben BreslerLauren Cipollo and myself (I’m Matt), the game allows you to join an enigmatic organization called the Golden Dawn, seeking to preserve the space-time continuum and ensure that the world’s greatest works of literature come into being… in one form or another. The players take on the role of the Author of your choice (fictionalized of course), in a time-traveling adventure to save the world and fulfill—or perhaps even surpass—your destiny!

You can learn more at the official Cinevore page HERE.

The game is inspired by the graphic novel series Stoker & Wells by Steven Peros, a truly fun concept. Check it out if you get a chance!

As for the game, players seem to be having a blast. We’ve run a total of five playtests as of this newsletter, and received some great feedback. But running the game at a convention this big was both daunting and thrilling.

We were constantly up against 100 other things people could potentially do at any given time, and asking folks for 3 hours of their weekend, when their passes cost easily hundreds of dollars, is a BIG ask. Still, when folks showed up, that was incredibly rewarding.

We loved seeing everybody laughing and cheering, and almost as great were the number of people who dropped by just to watch the game for a while, curious what the commotion was about.

Also, Jenni and Reuben are amazing human beings and tremendous GMs (“Librarians”), and you should all hire them for everything always.
