A cool gig I got about two years ago has seemingly come to greet the world.
In 2022 or so, along with a number of other writers, I was hired by Xsolla (Story3) to write short stories of no more than 900 characters, all of which were to branch rapidly, as sort of writing prompts for others who could then add their own branches below. All of the branches were meant to be open-ended.
My initial proposals were all sci-fi themed (unsurprisingly), but apparently nobody was doing fantasy, so I gladly shifted to that instead, and that’s where at least three of my four stories landed. The fourth is a comedy about a wolf who gets obsessed with TV shows celebrating the world’s deadliest animals.
At the moment, Story3 seems to be a site that pays “per click” if people enjoy your writing, which has always been less appealing to me. That said, I was happy to be involved in the creation of the initial stories where they were paying us all to generate our stories.
It was a fun writing exercise, and though the gig didn’t last, I heard feedback that the stories I submitted were among the best they received, and I currently have four of mine available to view and/or contribute to.
And most importantly, if you need somebody to write you CYOA-style content, email me.
