Before I jump straight into all the rewarding/exhausting work, allow me to share this month’s hilarity:
Living in Los Angeles is weird for all kinds of reasons.
Most people know the stereotype of the Hollywood cafe stacked with screenwriters with laptops, each one secretly hoping a passing studio executive stops to ask, “So, you got a screenplay, eh?” possibly in a 1930s reporter voice. “What a fresh scoop! That’s exactly what we’re looking for!”
I haven’t observed that too often. But then, I’m the weird sort of writer who avoids coffee shops to get work done. They’re far too distracting. Even music with so much as lyrics will prevent me from finding the right words, so loud cappucino machines and constant small talk from all sides – especially other people casually pitching movies to each other – is certain to trigger several aspects of my neurodivergent brain and not allow me to continue to focus.
Anyway, today’s story is almost the opposite…
